Privacy and cookie policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Tabwise collects, why, and what rights you have. We’ve tried to keep it plain and short.
Who we are
Tabwise is a registered business name with the Companies Registration Office, based in Cashel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. It runs free accessibility scans and publishes research, and doesn’t currently sell any paid service. Tabwise is the data controller for the personal data described here.

We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer.
What we collect and why
When you request a free accessibility scan
What: your email address and the website address you want scanned.
Why: to run the scan and email you the report.
Legal basis: providing the free scan you asked for, under our terms (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
The scan itself: our scanner visits the public pages of the website you give us, the same way a visitor would. It doesn’t log in or submit forms, and it only reads what’s publicly visible.
When you email us
What: your name, email address and whatever you include in your message.
Why: to reply to you.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us (Article 6(1)(f)).
Website analytics
We use Ackee, an analytics tool we run ourselves, to count page views and see which pages people visit. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t track you across other websites, and doesn’t store your IP address.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Article 6(1)(f)).
We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Tabwise. They process data only on our instructions:
| Provider | What they do for us | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts this website and handles form submissions | USA (EU–US Data Privacy Framework) |
| Google Cloud | Runs the accessibility scanner | europe-west1 (Belgium), within the EEA |
| Resend | Sends scan reports and our business email | USA (Standard Contractual Clauses) |
Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may also disclose data if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Scan requests and reports | 12 months from the scan |
| Emails you send us | 2 years from our last contact |
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data deleted
- restrict or object to how we use it
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it
To use any of these rights, email hello@tabwise.ie. We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie). If you’re in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
This website doesn’t set any cookies, so there’s no cookie banner. Our analytics (see above) works without them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If we ever start using cookies, we’ll ask for your consent first.
